There's a lot of cool stuff in the world

But in my opinon, some stuff is especially cool:

Board Games

My combination of competetiveness, puzzle-loving, and appreciation for craftsmanship are all attributes that contribute to my fondness for tabletop games. I have a personal collection I've cultivated of around 100 games, plus more than a dozen I've made myself (although the rules for some of those are long-lost to time). Some of my current favorite tabletop games are Scythe, Gloom, and Smash Up.

I also love tabletop RPGs—5e D&D and 13th Age are the two systems I play with the most, but I'm always open to trying new RPGs, either as a DM or a player.

Magic the Gathering

Technically this still falls under the tabletop game category, but I've spent enough time and money on this addictive game that it deserves separate mention. In addition to playing the game in paper and digital, I buy and sell cards and handpaint alters for comissions. If you play, feel free to add me as a friend on MTG Arena—my id is Ace#25552.

If you're still reading this, you can also add me on Discord at AceGamer#1805—because if you want to talk about Magic you undoubtedly use Discord (nerd).

Ultimate Frisbee

After a childhood filled with mediocre rec-sport experiences, I discovered Ultimate Frisbee in high school and quickly realized that it was everything I had been looking for. I doubt a 4-sentence blurb on a random dude's website is going to be the deciding factor that convinces anyone to play—but seriously, everyone should try it.

Anyone looking for another player for a rec league (or just a friend to throw with every now and then), feel free to reach out!

Building

Following a passion that started with LEGO, I mastered the art of power tools doing volunteer stage crew work for a local theater. Since then I've built a self-flooding stage platform for a performance of Titanic; a dozen-drawered coffee table to hold my now-sorted LEGO collection; a spring-loaded desk for a cake to disappear into; a 150-sqft shed, completed with a building permit; and everything in between.

Even as my academic career heads in the direction of solving virtual problems, there's something inherently satisfying about working with my hands.
